Vivian E. Howell

Vivian E. Howell, 76, of 41 Penna. Ave., Friendship passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at her home, following a lengthy illness. Born February 24, 1943 in Cuba, she was the daughter of James B. and Thelma King Cummins. On September 9, 1961 in Nile, she married Douglas Baxter. On October 8, 1966 in Genesee, PA. She married Victor Howell, who predeceased her on November 6, 2016.

Vivian had grown up in Friendship and attended the Friendship Central School, later receiving her GED. She attended the New Penn Beauty School in Olean and for several years was owner –operator of her dressing shop in Nile. Following her marriage to Victor, she moved to Rochester where for 25 years drove school bus. In 1993 she returned to Friendship and worked for Office of the Aging in Belmont, retiring in 1998.

Vivian enjoyed doing puzzles, collecting American flags and traveling by car. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She attended the Nile Community Church and was a member of the Friendship American Legion Auxiliary Post # 1168.

Surviving are a son, Todd (Mary) Baxter of Churchville, NY; two daughters, Amy Bennett and Cheri Wagner both of Friendship; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a sister, Genevieve Clark of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.

Vivian was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Sherburne.

A Celebration was celebrated at the Friendship American Legion Post # 1168 at a time when Vivian could meet and enjoy all her friends and family. Memorials may be made to the Friendship American Legion, Post # 1168 or the Office for the Aging, Belmont, NY.
