Virginia L. “Ginger” Bleeks

Virginia L. "Ginger" Bleeks, 82, of 30 Linwood Ave., passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Olean General Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Auguist 13, 1932 in Jamestown, she was the daughter of Leon and Goldie Morse Fuller. On February 14, 1970 in LeRoy, she married Gerald E. Rauber who predeceased her November 18, 1992 and on January 2, 2000 in Friendship, she married Lewis L. Bleeks who survives.

Ginger had grown up in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School class of 1950. She had graduated from Erie Co. Community college and for several years was a dietary technetium for the odd Fellows Club in Lockport. Later she was a dietary technetium at Mt. View Hospital in Lockport for a few years. In 1990 she had moved back to the area to become food service director in Highland Healthcare Nursing Home in Wellsville, retiring in 2000.

Ginger enjoyed square dancing, traveling and attending church services at her church. Most of all she loved her family and friends and being with them.

She was a member of the Friendship Bible Baptist Church; the Ladies Fellowship Group in the Church and the Friendship Red Hats.

Surviving in addition to her husband Lewis are seven sons, Ernest Mangine of Lockport, NY, Thomas (Diana) Mangine of Orange City, FL, Roger (Nancy) Mangine of Newfane, NY, Leon (Cindy) Mangine of Barker, NY, Joe (Concetta) Mangine of Cuba, NY, Jerry (Elizabeth) Rauber of Defiance, OH, and Daniel Rauber of Friendship, NY; a step son, Robert (Susan) Bleeks of Hume, NY; two daughters, Darlene (David) Donohue of Friendship, NY, and Mary (Kevin) Harrison of Lockport, NY; two step daughters, Phyllis (Paul) Bessey of Cuba, NY, and Teresa (Tim) Goodier of Franklinville,NY; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Ginger was predeceased by a son, William C. Mangine, and a brother, Roger S. Fuller.

Friends may call at the Friendship Bible Baptist Church Friday April 10, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Duane Broadwell, pastor will officiate and burial will be in the Cold Springs Cemetery, Lockport, NY. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Bible Baptist Church West Main St. Friendship, NY 14739.
