Steven Michael Hurd, 65, of 6547 Co. Rd. 20, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Bath Veterans hospital, following a lengthy Illness. Born February 15, 1950,in Cuba, NY, he was the son of Adin and Elizabeth Ramsell Hurd.
Steve had received his GED from Friendship Central School, After his graduation, he joined the Army, eventually serving in Vietnam, where he saw combat. After the Army, he returned to civilian life to become an excellent auto mechanic, first in Florida and then for garages in New York State.
He enjoyed hunting, computer building and working on cars. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Hurd of Friendship; two sons, James Hurd of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Steve Hurd of Dunnellon, FL; five grandchildren and a great granddaughter; brothers, John Hurd of Friendship, and
Nolan (Janet) Hurd of Angelica; a sister, Mickey (Bert) Tidland of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was predeceased by a brother, Noel Hurd.
There will be no visitations. Friends are invited to attend a memorial funeral service to be held at the Treusdell Funeral Home Friendship, on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Steven's Sister Mickey Tidland will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
