Friendship

Shirley M. Southwick, 86, of 57 West Main St., passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness. Born May 18, 1935 in Richburg, she was the daughter of Ned Earl and Gertrude Mae Howard Harris. On August 14, 1954 in Richburg, she married Frederick H. Southwick who predeceased her on April 10, 2015. A son Geary L. Southwick also passed away on August 20, 2019, with his wife Nancy A. Southwick surviving.

Shirley grew up in Richburg, where she attended and graduated from Richburg Central School, class of 1953. She lived in Richburg all of her life until moving to Friendship in 1965.

For several years she worked at Acme Electric in Cuba, owned and operated a restaurant in Friendship, Multiple secretarial jobs, Key Bank in Olean for many years. Also worked at a halfway house and a home for troubled youths.

She enjoyed traveling, motorcycles, snowmobiling, watching TV and playing games on her computer. She loved her dogs and her cat Chuck very much. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.

She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist church and was also a member of the Friendship Fire Department Auxiliary.

Surviving are her 2 daughters, Trudy M. Chatel of Wellsville, Anna (Terry) Archbold of Friendship and an adopted Daughter Valerie (Larry) Doran of NC. Six Grandchildren, 14 great Grandchildren and 2 great great Grandchildren.

She was predeceased by: Her Brothers, Glenn Harris, Lytle Harris, Daryl Harris and her Sister Beatrice Monahan.

Friends are invited for visitations at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on March 5, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm with the Rev.
