Sandra White Taber

Sandra White Taber of 16 Pike Street, Belfast, NY passed away after a brief illness on November 18, 2021 in the Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, PA. Sandie was born on March 8, 1954, in Cuba Hospital, to the late William and Patricia White of Little Genesee, New York. She married the love of her life, Tom, on October 28, 1972 in Belfast. They were inseparable during their 49 years of marriage. She traveled all over the east coast with Tom as he raced various dirt track circuits. No matter where they traveled, they always took their three girls with them. Family was always one of the most important things to Sandie. She cherished the times they were all able to be together. She enjoyed being a wife and mother but her favorite thing was being a Grammy.

Sandie was a graduate of Bolivar Central School, class of 1972. She grew up on the hills surrounding Horse Run Road in Bolivar, NY. She was always a force to be reckoned with. If you told her she couldn’t do something, she was the first to prove you wrong. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She was fierce and spirited and loved anything that went fast or was shiny.

Sandie’s pride and joy were her three beautiful little girls. Raising her girls was her life. While they were young, she babysat and held various waitressing jobs so she could be home with them. Over the years she worked in many different places. She always said “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.” She ran a flower shop for a friend, she was a bank teller and bank manager. In 2003 she and Tom started their own dirt sprint car racing organization, the Patriot Sprint Group. Sandie was a loyal civil servant and the first to help anyone in need. She served on the Belfast Central School Board for many years. She was also on the Belfast Town Board. After leaving the bank she and Tom opened 41 Main, an Antique Shop in their hometown of Belfast. Sandie loved people and lived the good life. She relished the time she was able to work outside in her flower gardens. She loved watching racing, spending time with her family, antiques, shopping online, watching her grandkids play sports, reading books, and baking with her grandkids.

Sandie is survived by her husband Tom of Belfast; her daughters and their families; Tricia (Troy) Ellsworth of Fillmore, Angel (Justin) Taber of Cornelius, NC, and Lindsey (Chauncey) Weaver of Belfast. She was blessed with 6 perfect grandchildren; Alex, Matt, Chris, Kylee, Emerson and Brinkley. She was also a momma to Trigger, the beautiful black shepherd she and Tom adopted this past year.

Sandie was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws and her four-legged best friend Dela.

There will be no services per Sandie’s request. Donations may be made to the Belfast Rescue Squad or Rescue Pups, 3073 Pangburn Road, Friendship, NY - Paypal:rescuepup585@gmail.com.
