Richard L. Rogers, 73, of 131 Rauber St. Apt. #1, Wellsville, passed away April 24, 2021 at Olean General Hospital following a brief illness. Born November 15, 1947 in Olean, NY, he was the son of Lyman and June Dutton Rogers. In March of 1975 in Tremont, IL., He married the former Sue Wilson, Who predeceased him on April of 2003.
Richard Grew up in the Friendship area and attended the Friendship Central School, receiving his GED at a later date. He became a self-employed carpenter in IL and later in Angelica, NY, working at his profession for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, writing short stories, listening to old country and gospel music. He also loved to cook and spend time with his family. He played cards at family reunions.
He was a member of the FFA in School and worked with the Salvation Army where his short stories were published.
Surviving are a son, Richard L. Rogers of Wellsville; three daughters, Amy L. Morris of Acworth, GA, Ricci L. (Richard) Burdick of Olean and Elizabeth J. Rogers of Scio; ten grand children and three great grand children; two brothers, James (Beverly) Rogers of Scio and Wayne (Mary) Rogers of Bloomfield, Iowa; three sisters, Betty (Wayne) Hall of Friendship, Bonnie (Jack) Hays of Wometsdorf, PA and Faith (James) Rauber of Cuba;
and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship Friday April 30, 2021 from noon to 2pm, at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Ken Chroniger will officiate and burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriers Project. For online condolences click on the button below.
