Philip W. Curcio

Philip W. Curcio, 79, of 6986 Hughes Road, passed away at the Palliative Care Center of Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, on July 3, 2022. Philip was born in Belfast, NY in his parents home on December 30, 1942 and was the son of Domenic P. and Dorothy Warner Curcio. In Belfast on Sept. 27,1969 in St. Patrick’s Church he married Annette M. Stewart, who survives.

Philip had resided all of his life in Belfast, attended and graduated from Belfast Central School, class of 1960. Following his graduation, he was employed at the New York State Dept. of Transportation in Hornell. Shortly after starting his career, he was drafted into the Army in 1964, the 25th Infantry Division, of the 65th Engineer Battalion in Cu Chi, Vietnam. From 1965 to 1966, he was Company Clerk there.

After his military career, Philip went back to the NYS Dept. of Transportation in Hornell for the next 38 years (1962-2001). After his retirement in 2001, he was a consultant for private contractors in the area. He worked on bridges built in the area including the wooden arch bridge in Angelica.

Surviving besides his wife, Annette M. Cucio are Christopher Curcio and Nicholas Curcio both of Belfast; 2 gandsons, Jack Curcio and Tyler Curcio both of Belfast; a brother, Paul (Cecy) Curcio of Belfast; a sister, Sylvia (Al) Tucker of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.

Philip was predeceased by a sister, Celeste Wuersig.

There are no visitations: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church in Belfast on Friday July 8, 2022 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Dennis Mancuso will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a mass card can be donated to St. Patrick’s Church.
