Margarite M. Murphy

Margarite M. Murphy, 85, of 5168 Co. Rd. 17 passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Olean General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born September 23, 1928, in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Harold and Margaret Rhodes Brockenshire. On September 13, 1947 in Buffalo, she married Frank J. Murphy who survives.

Margarite grew up in Buffalo and was a graduate of Lafayette High School there, class of 1946. In 1963, she and her husband moved to the Friendship area and raised their family. She became an assembler at Acme Electric Corp in Cuba for several years and in 1978 to 1987 she was employed by Cuba Memorial Hospital as a house keeper.

She enjoyed shopping in Cuba and Wellsville, gardening, watching the soaps on TV, most of all she loved her family and many friends, being with and visiting with them.

Surviving besides her husband Frank are four sons, Kevin F. (Diane) Murphy of Framingham, MA; Robin J. (Rebecca) Murphy of Cuba; John P. (Jessie) Murphy of Wellsville; and Dean P. (Lisa) Murphy of Friendship; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Margarite Predeceased by a brother Donald Brockenshire; and two great granddaughters, Eva Faye Murphy and Flame Murphy.

Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday. Funeral services will begin Monday March 10, 2014, beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 10:15 am, followed with a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba at 11:00 am. The Rev. Dennis Mancuso will be Celebrant and burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Cuba. Memorials may be made to the Cuba VFW post # 2721.
