Lois J. Brewer, 82 of 7359 Gleason Hill Rd. S., passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at Cuba Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Born December 3, 1936 in Rushford, she was the daughter of Royal and Beth Harris Luce. On April 2, 1955 she married Francis L. Brewer who predeceased her on May 19, 1997.
Lois had grown up in the Rushford, Black Creek area. She attended Cuba Central School and graduated from there, class of 1954. During the 1970's she was owner operator of Brewer's Restaurant on Main St. of Belfast. Later she was cook -waitress at the Wheel-Inn Restaurant in Oramel. For many years she was a cook at the Mater Dei Proprietary Home in Scio.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, BINGO, reading and traveling. She loved her family and friends and spending time with them.
She was a member of the Robert W. Howden, Belfast American Legion Auxiliary, Post # 1504.the Belfast Crafty Belles, the BABA of Belfast and the Belfast Leisure Club.
Surviving is a son, Alan S. (Brenda) Brewer of Belfast; two daughters, Betty A.(Dennis) Brewer of Belmont and Diane F. Becker of Lancaster, OH; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren;
a sister, Carol J. Cummins of Winchester, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was predeceased by a daughter, Celia Baillargeon; two sons in law, Joseph Baillargeon and Alan Becker; a daughter in law, Joyce Baker Brewer; and three brothers, Royal, Edwin and Leo Luce.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast, Noon to 2:00 pm on February 2, 2019 at which time (2:00 pm) A memorial service will be held In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Co. Cancer Services, Wellsville, NY 14895, the Belfast Free Library or the Belfast Rescue Squad.
