Leslie R. Gleason

Leslie R. Gleason, 83, of 57 South St. passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Absolut of Houghton, following a lengthy illness. Born December 10, 1931on Gleason Hill, Belfast, he was the son of Harley D. and Ruth Chamberlain Gleason.

Les had grown up in Belfast and attended Belfast Central School. He served with the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After the Navy, Les was employed at New York State DOT for several years then for Worthington Corp in Wellsville as a machine operator for many years, retiring in 1991.

He enjoyed golfing, watching TV, playing euchre with his friends and very much enjoyed his computer. Most of all he loved spending time with his animals, cats and dogs especially his dog Sam.

He was a member of the Belfast Robert W. Howden, American Legion Post # 1504, the Belfast Fire Dept. and the Belfast Lions Club.

Surviving are a son, Greg P. (Melissa) Cole of Caneadea; a granddaughter, Erin D. Cole of Caneadea; two sisters, Esther Fairbanks of Cuba, and Mary Lilly of Belfast; and several nieces and nephews.

Les was predeceased by a brother, Edward Gleason; and three sisters, Helen Grastorf, Fern Schiralli and Rita Kolisch.
