Kenneth “Ken” J. Enders, 72 of 6900 Baragon Hill Rd., Belfast passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home, following a lengthy illness. Born August 14, 1947 in Cuba, NY, he was the son of James W. and Lucille F. Hotchkiss Enders.
Ken had grown up and lived all of his life in the Belfast area. He attended the Belfast Central School. After his education, he worked on the family farm as well as the feed mill in Belmont. For a few years he was employed at Collins Lumber in Belfast, before becoming employed by the New York State Dept. of Transportation in Friendship as a heavy equipment operator for the next 32 years. Ken retired in 2004 and following retirement, he did the things he enjoyed, such as horse pulling, farming and card night.
Ken enjoyed blacksmithing, shoeing horses, logging, farming and going to auctions. His favorite outing was going to Benezette, PA, to see the elk. Most of all, Ken loved his family and spending time with them on his farm.
He was a member of the NYS Horse Pullers Association Inc.
Surviving besides his significant other, Rhonda Slocum, are a son, Kevin (Jacquie) Enders of Belfast; two daughters, Kimberly L. (David) Danser of Pavilion and Karen K. (Andrew) Chamberlain of Belfast; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry (Judy) Enders of the Town of New Hudson, Ronald (Norleen) Enders of Oramel and Walter (Kathy) Enders of Belfast; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitations or funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast.
