Mr. Simmons had resided most of his life in the Belfast area and had been a 1966 graduate of Belfast Central School. From 1967 until 1987 he resided in Jamestown where he was a US Postal Service employee.

He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union local of Jamestown.

Surviving are his mother, Myrtle J. Simmons of Cuba; two brothers, Bernard L. ( Sharon) Simmons of Belfast, and Charles E. Simmons of Angelica; five sisters, Doris J. Paluch of Buffalo, Margaret H. Higley of Olean, Susan K.(James) Barnes of Little Genesee, Lois A. Koczian of Ventura, CA, and Marilyn G. (Michael) Bunk of Cuba; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Simmons was predeceased by his father, Edward F. Simmons; and three brothers-in-law, Daniel Paluch, Miles Higley and Frank Koczian.

Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast, 7-9 PM Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM, Sunday, where funeral services will be held Monday January 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm. The Rev Wayne Hart, Pastor of the West Clarksville Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore. Memorials may be made to the Belfast Rescue Squad.
