Edna Mae Taylor

Edna Mae Taylor, age 94, died Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Jones Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born February 26, 1921 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Samuel Guy and Ethel E. Graham Hawk. On April 28, 1944, she married Charles J. Taylor, who predeceased her on February 14, 2005.

Edna resided many years in Butler, PA, and attended Butler High School. In 1956, the family moved to Freeport, PA where Charles attended (and Edna took courses at) Biblical Life Institute (TBS) to prepare for the ministry. In 1960, the family moved to Little Valley, NY where for many years she assisted her husband Charles in Western New York in Sunday school and children's church ministries, youth Bible camps, and vacation bible schools while serving with InFaith - An American Mission (formerly AFM and ASSU).

Edna enjoyed reading, doing crafts, table games, and enjoyed and loved her family. She was a member of the Riceville Community Church where she was also involved with children's ministries.

Edna is survived by sons, Charles E. (June) Taylor of Andover, and Donald L. (Darlene) Taylor of Caneadea; one daughter, Karen R. (Ben) Mackiewicz, of Bloomsburg, PA; her five grandchildren, Summer (Brett) Halsey of Oswego IL, Dr. Brook ( Dr. Joseph) Baade of DeWitt, MI, Joseph (Heba) Taylor of Kansas City MO, Lisa (Suk Jong) Jang of Seoul, South Korea and Melody Mackiewicz of Bloomsburg PA; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Jillian, Ashlyn, Evalyn, Seth and Vara Halsey, Maxwell and Samuel Baade, Elias and Zackary Taylor, and David, Justin, Joshua and Daniel Jang; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Edna is predeceased by one sister, Irene F. Hawk, and two brothers, Earl C. Hawk and Clarence S. Hawk.

Friends may call at Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast, NY on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Friday 10-11:00 AM. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 31, 2015, the Reverend Robert Mackmer, Pastor of the Belfast Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rawson Valley Cemetery, Town of Lyndon.
