David Robert Fisher, 77, of 114 Main St., Belfast, passed away September 9, 2018 at Arnott-Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY, following a brief illness. Born October 15, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY. he was the son of George and Laura Fisher.
David had grown up in Niagara Falls and Belfast. He attended both Belfast Central School and later Laselle High School in Niagara Falls. After high school, David served with the Air Force from 1960 to 1964 and with the Navy from 1965 to 1966. He saw combat as a SEABEE in the Navy in Vietnam. After service to his country, he went to Chicago, where he was a steel worker. Returning to Belfast, he returned to this area where he was employed at several different machine shops in the area.
He enjoyed being a ham radio operator and also liked doing word search puzzles.
David was a member of the Belfast Ambulance Squad.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Fisher of Scio; two daughters, Kristine Howe of Warsaw and Laura Slocum of Wellsville; and several grandchildren.
There will be no visitations or funeral. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Belfast Rescue Squad. Condolences may be made by clicking the button below.
