David Edward "Dave" Sherman, 58, of 6547 Lot 25 Rt 20, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Buffalo Veterans Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Born August 27, 1955 in Olean, he was the son of Elmer and Audrey Smith Sherman. On June 25, 1983 in Portville, he married the former Delores P. "Doddy" Schoonover, who survives.
Dave had grown up in Cuba and was a graduate of Cuba Central School, class of 1975. He served with the Air Force during the Viet Nam war and upon returning home, he graduated from BOCES as an electrician. For many years, Dave was a self employed electrician in the area, retiring in 1991 due to ill health.
Dave loved to listen to classic rock music, take long walks, roller skating and enjoyed playing with his dog and cat.
He was a member of the Friendship Bible Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife Doddy are a brother, Robert Sherman of Olean; and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Predeceased by his parents Elmer Sherman (4-10-90) and Audrey Smith Sherman (12-31-84).
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday where funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Duane Broadwell, pastor of the Friendship Bible Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
